Draft for UK Signature Homes to approve. Prepared 11 October 2026.
Our aim
We want everyone to be able to use this website. We have designed and built it to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA. That is our target: the website has not yet been independently audited against it.
What we have done
- Colour: every pairing of text and background was measured and has a contrast ratio of at least 4.5 to 1. Form field borders and other important outlines meet 3 to 1.
- Keyboard: links, buttons and form fields are built to be reached and used with a keyboard, with a clearly visible focus outline, and a "Skip to content" link comes first on every page.
- Forms: every field has a visible label above it. Mistakes are explained in words (never by colour alone), listed together at the top of the form, and announced to screen readers.
- Movement: if your device is set to reduce motion, the homepage's opening animation, the scrolling build film and other animations do not play, and the build film shows still pictures with the same words instead. Neither has sound. The opening animation lasts about five seconds, can be skipped with a button, a click or the Escape key, and plays at most once every 30 days.
- Nothing waits for a script: all text is in the page itself, so it is there even if JavaScript fails or is switched off.
- Pictures: images that carry meaning have text descriptions, decorative ones are hidden from screen readers, and computer-generated pictures are labelled as such.
- Navigation: menus mark the page you are on, the menu button and the form's choices are at least 44 pixels tall, and the pages use headings and landmarks to show their structure.
How it was tested
The people who built the website checked it as they went, in a desktop browser at phone, tablet and desktop sizes: contrast measured for every colour pairing, keyboard use, form errors, reduced motion, and the page structure. The most recent full check was on 12 October 2026.
It has not yet been tested by an independent auditor, or by people who use screen readers or other assistive technology.
Known limits
- Documents in the Home Passport, such as appliance manuals and certificates, mostly come from manufacturers and other businesses. Many are PDFs that may not work well with screen readers. Ask us and we will help you with the information in them.
- Brochures, site plans and specifications, when we add them, may be PDFs with the same limits. We will send the information in another form if you ask.
- The maps are pictures. The address or area is always written out in words beside them.
- The Home Passport uses the same design and parts as the public website, but its pages have not yet been checked as fully as the public pages.
